Danny studied computer science and started developing CBT (Computer Based Training) in 1990.

He has worked for the Center for Educational Technology, Innovation & Stafftraining (Cetis) at the Hogeschool van Utrecht (University) developing CBT, multimedia, intranet & e-learning applications.

In 1998 he started his own business doing mainly CDrom productions for several dutch ministeries. After a merger gone bad he took on a job as lead technician for a dutch/south african e-learning distributor; but felt uncomfortable selling software which did not meet industry standards.

IRL he learned life is not about work; a loving long time relationship ended and his best friend died of ALS (Lou Gehrigs).

Clearly it was time to do something different.

The AWAREness worldtrip 2004/2005 was born!

In 6 months a OneWorldExplorer ticket took him to South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and North America.
Meeting people from various backgrounds in the backpackers scene and eLearning developers and other IT specialists in the 'work' part of the trip. (including spending some time on the infamous Microsoft Campus in Seattle)
